Reason in the Unseen World
In the unseen, reason cannot determine the essence of what the senses never reached, but it is not cancelled.
Its role is to verify the source of the unseen report, the soundness of its transmission, and whether it has been falsely attributed to revelation.
When authentic transmission is established, reason recognizes its limits and receives the unseen report as knowledge from a source greater in knowledge.
Common Mistakes
- Saying that reason is disabled in the unseen.
- Saying that transmission must never be examined by reason.
- Saying that reason and transmission necessarily contradict.
These claims are inaccurate, because reason led us to recognize its own limits, and reason examines transmission before accepting it.
